The French Presidential Elections

Leaders of French Jewry have expressed their relief at the defeat of the far-right candidate Marine Le Pen in the presidential election but also say they’re concerned that she received more than a third of the vote.
The chief Rabbi of France and ‘CRIF’ – the umbrella organization of French Jewish communities - have both decried the result as dangerous to democracy and minorities.
Le Pen, received 33.9 percent of the vote compared to 66.1 percent for the centrist candidate Emmanuel Macron.
