'Gone For A Burton'

In the backwaters of 1956 Liverpool, irascible tailor Label Levanksy battles with his old sparring partner from the stetl, Moyshie Oshinsky, when he opens a Burton’s menswear chain store across the road, threatening Label with bankruptcy.
As livelihoods hang by a thread, Label’s one-track Communist politico son Jack’s idealism is cracked by news of Stalin’s crimes, Jack’s wife Nella clamours for independence via a new preoccupation with modern art whilst daughter Rosa strains towards the heady beat of rock 'n' roll.
The new play by Norma Cohen sees a rehearsed reading at JW3 on Tuesday 4th April at 19:30.
